Four things happen on this site that involve you at all: a search, a hand-off to the booking partner, a message through the contact form, and the measurement of which pages get read. Each is set out below.
The dates and places you put in the form
The pick-up point, the drop-off point and the dates you choose are sent to the rental partner’s booking system so that it can return the cars available for them. That is what the search is: a question asked on your behalf and an answer displayed back to you.
We do not need a name, an address or a card to run a search, and none is asked for at that stage. If you leave the site without reserving anything, nothing you typed has been attached to you.
The hand-off to the rental partner
When you reserve a car, the reservation is made inside the partner’s own booking system rather than on this domain. The details it asks for are the ones a rental needs: the main driver’s name, a contact phone number with its country code, an email address for the voucher, and the payment details its own checkout requires.
Those details are held by the partner and by the local company that owns the car, because they are the ones who have to find you at the handover and who hold the rental agreement. No payment is taken on this domain at any point.
What the rental conditions require of that phone number is set out in full on the conditions page: it has to stay reachable throughout the rental and on the day before pick-up, which is how the person meeting you makes contact.
What happens to a message you send
The form on the contact page posts to this site and is emailed to the address the site publishes. It carries what you typed and the email address you left, so that we can answer you, and nothing else is collected with it.
A message sent that way is used to answer that message. It is not added to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing email from this site.
What is measured, and what is not
Which pages are read, which links inside them are followed and which searches are started are measured in aggregate, because that is how a page that sends people the wrong way gets found and rewritten. That measurement is about pages rather than about people.
Your browser can be told to refuse the cookies that measurement uses, and the site still works: the search, the guides and the conditions do not depend on them. The cookie page says which categories are set and what each is for.
Asking what is held, and asking for it to go
Write to the address on the contact page and say what you want: a copy of what a message of yours contained, or its deletion. We will answer to the address you write from.
For anything attached to a booking rather than to this site, the voucher carries the rental company’s own details and the partner’s, and they hold that record. We can point you at them, and often that is faster than going through us.
