Search cars for your datesCopacabana, Miami and the Port Milena end are all signposted from the road, and each leads to lots near the sand.
What to expectRental cars are allowed on paved public roads only. If an access road turns sandy, go back to the signed route rather than following tyre tracks.
Read the conditionsA national licence in Latin script, not a copy, and the deposit card in the main driver’s name. Each car states its own minimum age and driving experience.
What that means in fullBEFORE YOU DRIVE OFF
Wheels, windscreen, the underside and the interior sit outside standard insurance. Record them with the person handing the car over.
The delivery point is set per company and shown on the car before you reserve. Keep the phone reachable so it can be moved if the street will not take a car.
A car returned too dirty to inspect is washed at your expense.
Velika Plaza starts ten to fifteen minutes from Ulcinj. Rental cars are allowed on paved public roads only, so the car stops where the tarmac does.
The beach begins about five kilometres south-east of the town, and a car booked in Ulcinj reaches it in ten to fifteen minutes. Access is by signposted turn-offs to the named sections, Copacabana and Miami among them, with the Port Milena end nearest the town, and each turn-off leads to lots near the sand.
Podgorica Airport is 75 km away, about an hour and a half, and the Tivat Airport run is about 85 km and two hours down the coast.
Which access roads are sealed the whole way, and what the lots charge, has not been measured. Follow the signed routes to their end and park where the cars are.
Two other places are within twenty minutes: driving down to Valdanos takes a quarter of an hour in the other direction, and parking below the Old Town is under ten minutes away.
Rental cars are allowed on paved public roads only. Sand, dunes and emergency tracks are not paved public roads. A car on any of them is outside the conditions and outside the insurance.
Travel sources on this beach give the same advice: do not drive on the sand, do not park on the dunes or on soft sand after rain, and if an access road turns sandy or unclear, go back to the signed route.
Drive to the end of the signed road, park where the other cars are parked, and walk the last part.
Most Ulcinj listings are delivered, and the delivery point is set by the company you book with and shown on the car before you reserve. For the booking system, the pickup points around Ulcinj are all one city, so choosing between them never turns a booking into a one-way. Only the two airports are separate places, and collecting at one of those is what makes a booking a one-way.
Walk round the car with the person bringing it and photograph the wheels, the windscreen and the underside: those three and the interior are what standard insurance does not cover.
Keep the phone reachable afterwards. The number given at booking has to work throughout the rental, on WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram as well as by call.
A fortnight of beach days puts sand in a footwell, and a car returned so dirty that it hinders inspection is washed at the customer’s expense.
Parking fines are the renter’s too, for the whole rental.
If something does happen, whatever it is, tell the rental company immediately and get a police report unless they have agreed otherwise. Failing to do either cancels the insurance on the car. The same applies anywhere, including the drive up to Bar.
The transfer from either airport takes an hour and a half to two hours.
The beach is twelve kilometres long, reached by signed access roads.
