ULCINJ / OLD TOWN

Ulcinj Old Town parking,
and where a hire car goes.

The historic centre is closed to cars, and the promenade car park by Mala Plaza is the nearest practical parking, minutes away on foot. Further out is the sand at Velika Plaza, ten minutes south.

Park below it,
and walk up.

The Old Town sits above the sea at the end of the promenade, and the car does not come with you. The car parks below it are listed here.

01

The promenade car park

By Mala Plaza, minutes from the walls on foot along the seafront or up the stairs. It fills by late morning in July and August.

What to expect
02

The overflow

Marked bays at Liman I and Liman II, and on Pinjes hill. Read the sign before you walk away, because parking and fines are the renter’s.

03

Or have it delivered

Most listings here offer delivery. The car stays where you are staying.

Pickup and delivery
04

What to have with you

A national licence in Latin script, not a copy, and the deposit card in the main driver’s name. Each car states its own minimum age and driving experience.

What that means in full
Three kilometres from the middle of town, and the last of it on foot.

BEFORE YOU DRIVE OFF

At the handover,
check three things.

01

Photograph the wheels

Wheels, windscreen, the underside and the interior are outside standard insurance.

02

Read the parking sign

Parking and fines are the renter’s for the whole rental.

03

Keep the phone reachable

The number you booked with has to work throughout the rental and the day before pick-up. It is how a delivery point gets confirmed or moved.

Read the driving guide

You cannot drive in,
so where does the car go?

The Old Town is closed to cars.

Where to park

The historic centre is largely pedestrianised, with vehicle access restricted to residents and services. The nearest practical parking is the promenade car park by Mala Plaza, which is minutes from the walls on foot, either along the seafront path or up the stairs. When that fills, the marked bays at Liman I and Liman II and the ones on Pinjes hill are the overflow.

In July and August the spaces by Mala Plaza go by late morning. That comes from several sources agreeing, not from a measurement; the charges, enforcement, number of spaces and exact pedestrian boundary have not been established.

The walk up is short from any of these car parks.

The walls sit above the sea at the end of the promenade, and every route in ends on foot.

From the middle of town it is about three kilometres and under ten minutes to Mala Plaza and the Old Town; a car for the week in Ulcinj is mostly for the drives further out.

Parking, fines and cover

The conditions put fuel, parking, fines and tolls on the renter for the whole rental.

Read the sign before you walk off.

Wheels, windscreen, the underside and the interior are what standard insurance excludes. Photograph all four at the handover with the person handing the car over.

Delivery

Have the car brought to you, and leave it where you are staying. Delivery carries more of the Ulcinj listings than every fixed point together, in every window measured, and delivery to the address you are staying at leaves the car where your accommodation parks.

The delivery point is set by the company you book with and shown on the car before you reserve. Keep the phone you booked with reachable, including the day before pick-up; it is how a delivery point is confirmed or moved.

A car returned so dirty that it hinders inspection is washed at the customer’s expense.

Beaches and the coast road

The sand starts about five kilometres south-east of town and runs for twelve.

Northward the coast road reaches Bar in about forty minutes, and the ferry port at Bar is a minute beyond the town itself, though the crossing to Italy is not sailing this season.

What do people ask
before they book?

Answers about parking a hire car for the Old Town, and about the charges that follow it.

Where do I leave the car for the old town?

The promenade car park by Mala Plaza is the nearest practical parking, minutes from the walls on foot. Overflow is the marked bays at Liman I and Liman II and on Pinjes hill, and the spaces by Mala Plaza fill by late morning in season.

Can I drive into the historic centre?

No. It is largely pedestrianised, with vehicle access restricted to residents and services, so the car stops below it whichever way you approach.

Are parking fines mine to pay?

Yes. The conditions put fuel, parking, fines and tolls on the renter for the whole rental.

What do the car parks charge?

We do not publish that, or whether charging is enforced, because it has not been established from a source worth quoting. Which car parks exist, and that the centre is closed to cars, are established.
